PARTNER UPDATE · SPRING 2026
The Bow Is Being Drawn
A letter from the founder on what God is building in Englewood
|
|
|
"I have stood with too many families around caskets that should have been graduation stages."
|
Friends,
The moment that changed everything for me was not dramatic in the way you would expect. I was sitting in our after-school program, watching our dedicated tutors try to inspire children who were already exhausted by a failing system. And a thought hit me that I could not shake: we have been trying to change a trajectory that was already set. Every day, a broken system was solidifying a direction we were scrambling to reverse.
What if our calling was not just to fix — but to aim?
What if our ministry could become the Archer — the steady hand that chooses a better target, draws the bow with discipline, and ensures a truer aim from the very start?
That vision is Archer Christian Academy. And I am writing today because we are closer than we have ever been.

THE REALITY
Englewood Deserves More Than This
In Chicago’s public schools, the numbers tell a story that should keep all of us awake at night. But in Englewood, where the statistics are even more dire, these are not just numbers — they are children we know by name.

THE ANSWER
Not a Reaction. A Proactive Answer.
Archer Christian Academy is not another program, not another intervention, not another attempt to fix what is already broken. It is permanent infrastructure for human flourishing — a Christ-centered, classical school that will form children from the very start. Shaping how they think. Strengthening who they are. And launching them as leaders who bring renewal to their families, their churches, and their city.

THE PROOF
This Model Works. We Have Seen It.
We are not starting from scratch. Through the Spreading Hope Network — launched from Hope Academy to help other communities replicate what God did in Minneapolis — we are connected to a national movement that has been helping plant Christ-centered schools in underserved cities for nearly a decade. And our model school, Hope Academy, is living proof of what is possible:
|
|
In September 1999, Russ Gregg quit his job and answered a calling from God. The next fall, he launched a school in the education wing of a Minneapolis church with 35 students in grades K–2. Today —
|
650+
K–12 students served today

95%
of graduates accepted to college

20+
schools launched through the network
|
|
Hope Academy started where we are starting: K–2, 35 students, one church building, and a calling from God.

THE PLAN
Disciplined Growth. One Arrow at a Time.
We are launching small by design — K through 2nd grade, adding one grade per year, maintaining the intimate culture that makes this model work. Every dollar is accounted for. Every hire is intentional.

In 1985, a ministry planted itself in Englewood and said: we are not leaving. Over 40 years later, that ministry became the soil from which Archer is growing. I have been here for 25 of those years. The community trust we carry was not bought — it was earned, one family at a time, over four decades of faithful presence.
Now God is asking us to do something new with everything He has given us. The bow is being drawn. The target is clear. The arrow is almost ready to fly.
Will you help us release it?
In His Service,
Daniel M. Bair
Executive Director, Archer Christian Academy
